Working With Children, Adolescents & Families through a Structural Lens

Tara Byers, MS, LPC

This course is designed to introduce mental health service providers’ to an alternative way of viewing “negative behaviors” in children. The training centers on learning core concepts of Structural Family Therapy and utilizing those concepts to redefine the working definition of “the problem” to include the ENTIRE family. The goal of this training is to expand how mental health professionals conceptualize children’s behaviors and create a more comprehensive context for “why” and “how” these behaviors not only exist but are maintained through the structure of the child’s current environment. The training will also provide various techniques and interventions to foster movement within a family system to help create long-lasting change.

  • PCS provides light refreshments at all trainings. Lunch is not provided. Please come prepared with a packed lunch as there will be time for a brief working lunch.
  • By attending a PCS training, you are giving PCS permission to videotape you and any discussion you participate in for video training purposes.
