Description

This course is designed to strengthen the mental health service provider’s understanding of mindfulness-based interventions and body-awareness techniques as a therapeutic tool that can be used to aid in the recovery process and promote overall health and wellness. There is growing evidence to support the use of yoga-based practices to enhance physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. This training will cover the various benefits of yoga for mental health, stress management, and recovery support. It will also provide guidance on incorporating simple mind-body practices into patient sessions. Experiential learning activities will provide an opportunity to experience firsthand the therapeutic benefit of yoga-based practices. These will include grounding techniques, breathing exercises, simple movement, and mindfulness meditation techniques. Each attendee will receive a yoga mat and basic yoga tools that can be incorporated into daily practice; no prior yoga experience is necessary.

*Please note, the registration deadline is noon on May 24, 2024.
