Courtney Krivak-Kramer, MA CFBT
Training Description
Pulling from Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy, this training will identify traits and themes of the common patterns of interactions that bring couples into counseling--"The Demon Dialogues". These are negative communication cycles that trap couples in conflict and disconnection. The training will assist in deciphering which pattern is present: "Find the Bad Guy" "The Protest Polka" and "Freeze and Flee" to understand the underlying attachment needs to move couples closer towards secure, connected conversations. The training will discuss common interventions and therapeutic traps to provide practical skills and exercises when working with couples.
