Jacqueline George, MSSW, LCSW, RPT-S
Sometimes therapists are unsure of how to approach certain topics in a playful manner. This workshop begins with a look at the importance of play for children, as well as the therapeutic powers of play. Focus then centers on directive play therapy techniques that address eleven life issues, thus equipping therapists to more fully meet their client’s needs. These eleven areas are addressed with a total of 19 directive techniques and workshop participants will engage in many of the play therapy activities presented throughout the day.
This training is funded in part by a competitive grant awarded through the PA Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
• Identify eleven reasons play is vital to children
• List seven therapeutic powers of play
• Engage in new play therapy activities to use with children ages preschool through high school
• Increase their ability to playfully help children address 11 life issues in therapy sessions
