Helping to Navigate Youth Through the Risks of the Digital World

Trainer

Melanie Morgan, LPC, CFBT

Description

This training is specific to Buck County professionals and residents

Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania, Inc. (Magellan), on behalf of the Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Programs, invites you to attend: Helping to Navigate Youth Through the Risks of the Digital World.

Technology can be a powerful and positive force. It allows for quicker and easier access to information, helps us stay connected with loved ones, and supports our daily lives in countless ways. However, as digital technology rapidly advances, it also brings increased risks, such as the risk of exploitation, and higher rates of impulsivity and expected instant gratification, all of which have a negative impact on healthy sexual development.

This training will highlight some of the most recent developments in the digital world and provide insight into safeguarding against online predators. It will also cover key conversations that parents, educators, law enforcement, and other professionals should be having with children to help them navigate the digital landscape safely.

Participants will gain a general understanding of high-risk technologies and the motivations behind why children and adolescents are seeking online connections and accessing sexually explicit material at developmentally concerning rates. Additionally, the training will touch on the rising trend of adolescent sex-related offenses.

(Please note: This is a brief training intended to provide an overview. It does not aim to address or resolve all aspects of adolescent problematic sexual behavior in the digital age).
