Decreasing Conflict in Embattled Family Systems Through the Four Pillars of ESFT

Trainer

Miranda Stickler, LMFT AS

Description

This training is part of a four part series on Addressing Dysfunctional Family Patterns through the Four Pillars of Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy.

Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy believes all maladaptive family patterns of interaction can be classified in four dysfunctional family types: Embattled, Enmeshed, Authoritarian, and Under-Organized.  This training series will look at how therapists can help shift those family patterns through practical use of the Four Pillars of ESFT. This particular training in the series will explore decreasing the high conflict nature present in embattled family systems. Therapists will learn to identify this family pattern by looking at how conflict between the caregivers hinders their ability to see what the child truly needs. The training will identify specific goals in each pillar (emotion regulation, parent child relationship, executive functioning, and co-caregiver relationships) and practical interventions the therapist can use to help facilitate change in these four areas to move the family closer to a pattern of interacting that better meets the child’s needs.
