Emily Huffer, MS, LAPC
This 1-hour training provides school-based mental health providers with an evidence-informed framework for identifying, assessing, and responding to suicide risk in adolescents. Participants will review current trends, risk and protective factors, and early warning signs specific to youth populations. The training integrates best-practice assessment tools such as the C-SSRS, ASQ, and SAFE-T, and offers guidance on implementing effective safety planning, crisis intervention, and documentation. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary collaboration, culturally responsive care, and creating a trauma-informed school climate that supports early detection and ongoing follow-up. Providers will leave with practical strategies, resources, and confidence to enhance suicide prevention efforts in their school settings.
