Emily Huffer, MS, LAPC
This one-hour training provides mental health professionals with a comprehensive, practical overview of how to effectively support clients experiencing grief. The session reviews foundational concepts such as types of grief, the Dual Process Model, meaning-making, and common misconceptions, while also helping clinicians differentiate grief from depression or trauma. Participants are guided through a series of evidence-informed interventions they can immediately use with clients, including psychoeducation strategies, dual-process coping tools, continuing bonds activities, and grounding techniques for moments of emotional overwhelm. The training also highlights considerations for traumatic, cultural differences, and grief in children and adolescents. Clinicians will leave with a ready-to-use toolkit of worksheets, prompts, and coping strategies to enhance grief support within their practice.
