Emily Huffer, MS, LAPC
This hour-long training provides an in-depth overview of the role and responsibilities of a School-Based Outpatient therapist (SBO). Participants will gain a clear understanding of how a School Based Therapist supports students’ mental health, including providing individual therapy, crisis intervention, behavioral support, and collaboration with families and school staff. The session highlights the unique benefits of school-based mental health services, contrasts SBOs with traditional outpatient therapists, and addresses common challenges in the school setting. Through case examples and practical strategies, attendees will leave with actionable insights on how SBOs promote students’ social, emotional, and academic success while fostering a collaborative and supportive school environment.
