Why Won't They Come Back? Building Strong Relationships with Participants in a Private Practice Model

Trainer

Carl Sever, LPC

Description

In this lunch and learn training we will focus on building good relationships with clients. Special attention with be paid to the vulnerability of clients at the onset of therapy. We will talk about uplifting relational practices during 4 treatment phases which include the initial contact with our practice, the orientation phase, treatment, and separation phases. One training goal is, via stories and metaphor, to attempt to raise awareness of the treatment experience through the eyes of the participant. There will be some time to discuss how we unwittingly trick our participants into leaving the experience prematurely. Reviewing essential traits of really good therapists will wrap up the hour.
