Training Description

This training will educate clinicians on the basic principles of attachment-based family play therapy. Therapists will learn about the evidence behind the effectiveness in incorporating play techniques into family therapy. Barriers to adults being playful will be explored, and the training will have experiential components to help the therapist connect to their own creativity to enter the world of pretend with clients. The training will look at specific play therapy activities including sandplay, art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, and use of miniatures.

 

Trainer Bio

Miranda Stickler is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She is currently serving as a Clinical Consultant with Dauphin County Family Based and is actively involved on the panel for Pennsylvania Clinical Training Institute - Family Based Training Center. Miranda's previous work experience in the field includes providing services as a family-based therapist, helping children and adolescents with behavior modification, and outpatient therapy with individuals, couples, and families with both mental health and substance abuse concerns. Specific areas of interest for Miranda include: attachment, relational issues, grief and loss, play therapy, identity and self-esteem, postpartum mental health, and trauma.
